ABOUT THE BRAND

Ember is a design-led temperature control brand, founded in 2010 by inventor and serial entrepreneur Clay Alexander.

He developed and patented a disruptive new technology to enhance the way people experience taste. At Ember, we  believe that giving people the power to control temperature will revolutionize the way the world eats, drinks and lives.

Ember has a world-class team of product designers, engineers and industry leaders handpicked from companies such as Apple, Beats by Dre, Under Armour, Microsoft, Nokia and Amazon Labs.

The story

In 2009, Alexander sat down for breakfast with his wife, and within minutes, as always, his eggs were cold. As a successful, serial inventor, Alexander stared at his cold eggs, and pondered how he could solve this problem. There just had to be a better way. Why couldn't the plate keep his food warm, and mugs keep his coffee hot? This sparked Alexander’s interest in temperature control.

He wanted to create a new category of dishware that would maintain a perfect temperature versus just keeping food and drinks hot. Alexander went to work and started strapping RC batteries to the back of dish plates and perfecting his thermal technology strategy. After many iterations and years of design and engineering innovation, Alexander developed and patented the World’s First Temperature Control Mug™.  Ember was born.

The technology

After years of innovative design and engineering, Ember has become the leader in temperature control technology. We are changing the way the world eats and drinks forever.

The average serving temperature for hot beverages is 160°F (71°C) (scalding), yet the average preferred drinking temperature is around 135°F (57°C). With Ember, you select the exact temperature you prefer between 120°F (48°C) and 145°F (62°C) then the mug maintains it to the exact degree.

Ember features a phase change cooling system, a micro-processor controlled heating system, and a network of sensors working together to provide an unparalleled drinking experience.
