High-profile designers, ground-breaking entrepreneurs, award-winning architects and innovative creatives gathered in style yesterday on the 5th April at the Teatro Real in Madrid to celebrate the winners of the first ever edition of the Land Rover BORN in Spain Awards.
The awards, founded by Jean-Christophe Chopin eight years ago, aim to celebrate creativity in design lifestyle combining functionality and desirability. Hundreds of creators applied to enter the awards in Spain, but only one winner was selected in each of the following categories: architecture, fashion, interiors, sport, technology and mobility.

This year’s six Spanish laureates with their ‘peerless’ creations are:
Ramón Esteve in Architecture for his stunning restoration of the Bombas Gens Art Centre.
Javier Goyeneche in Technology for his creation of Ecoalf, an eco-friendly fashion brand that uses high quality recycled materials to produce beautiful sustainable pieces.

Marta Alonso and Imanol Elosegui in Interiors for Filamento, a striking sculptural lamp formed of a single piece of glass.
Lorenzo Fluxà Orti in Fashion for Nixie, durable ballerina shoes with a minimalist design and a sleek silhouette.
Juan de Antonio in Mobility for Cabify, a transportation network company that connects users with vehicles through a mobile app.

And finally, Marcos Azpiroz, Miguel Azpiroz, Adur Letamendia and Axel Lorentz in Sport for the XL Spicy, a stylish surfboard with a pronounced rocker, narrower outline and lower rails to generate speed.
The projects of all six winners will be exhibited during Milan Design Week from the 17th to 22nd of April, with the global winner being announced on October 4th at the Design Museum in London.
